Appendix A. ISA Conditions. The ISA conditions that are assumed in the ISA temp/altitude option in the performance slide rule are: 1) A sea level temperature of 15øC. 2) A sea level pressure of 1013.25mb/hpa. 3) A constant lapse rate of 1.98øC per 1000 feet increase in altitude up to the tropopause height of 36089 feet AMSL, after which the temperature remains constant. JSA Conditions. The JSA conditions that are assumed in the JSA temp/altitude option in the performance slide rule are: 1) A sea level temperature of 15øC. 2) A sea level pressure of 1013.25mb/hpa. 3) A constant lapse rate of 2øC per 1000 feet increase in altitude. 4) No tropopause (the temperature continues to decrease with AN increase in altitude). The addition of a menu that will control all functions in the time option. 2). A new calculation to convert between decimal and normal hours, minutes, and seconds. 3). Allowance for midnight in the preparation of ETA's. Logbook. 1). A remarks field will be added to all logbook entries that will be accessible from the logbook menu (file compatibility with earlier versions will be maintained). 2). The time function will be accessible from the logbook menu. Database (input). 1). An improvement on the length limit of airways (currently 253 characters) 2). A search the relevant databases as an airway is entered to ensure that all the points are present and offer input facilities if they aren't. 3). Allow the input of "floating points" in airways; ie points that aren't either navaids or reporting points. Flight Plan (activate). 1). Allowance for the display of an ETA at the destination prior to the penultimate reporting point. 2). A facility for inserting new, and deleting old legs in a flight plan. 3). A position fixing function (latitude & longitude) given the range and bearing from a known facility. 4). Automatic logging of flight details in the logbook upon completion of flight. General Slide Rule. 1). The addition of three new calculations: critical point, point of no return, and position fixing (latitude & longitude) given the range & bearing from a known facility. Performance Slide Rule. 1). Automatic compensation for compressibility where appropriate. 2). An improvement in the accuracy of the kinetic heating compensation at high speeds and full implementation of kinetic heating compensation in all performance related calculations. Configure Option. This will be an entirely new option that will enable you to customise the set up of Acmenav; it will control the following: 1). Default display units. 2). Default fuel and specific gravity in the fuel converter. 3). Default details for the logbook. 4). Default kinetic heating compensation. 5). Default compressibility compensation. Printing. Rather than trying to produce a printer interface that will cover a multitude of sins, both the flight planning and logbook options will probably have a print to file option that will allow you to load either flight plans or sections of the logbook into the word processor for printing (œ187 for the developers kit????). Custom Centre of Gravity. Another new option that will allow you to program in aircraft weight and balance details for quick calculations. Take off & Landing Performance calculator. This will be an option that automatically compensates for differences in the prescribed flight manual conditions to produce amended take off and landing distances (using standard CAA factors). Custom Take off and Landing Performance. Sticky one this; originally Acmenav contained such facilities, but they were removed pending a survey of users to find out exactly what they needed in this department. It is hoped that such facilities will be included, although they are down the bottom of my shopping list.
